Yarra Yering owns 28 hectares of vineyard in the Yarra Valley. The vines are located under Warramate Hill and produce internationally esteemed wines. The site was specifically selected by Dr. Carrodus himself, based on his experience from the best wineries and vineyards in Europe. With northern exposure and well drained soils of silt and loam, he planted the first vines in 1969. Based on the great wines of Bordeaux and northern Rhone, the first two blends are both still regarded as some of Victoria’s best wines.

The Yarra Yering Dry Red No 1 Cabernet Blend is a classic example of a premium quality Bordeaux style wine. Classified as ‘Outstanding’ by Langton’s, this wine is among the top wines in Australia, and at a terrific price. Black and red berry fruit along with cedar and tobacco notes provide a lifted nose. There is also an earthy element to the complex palate which is otherwise ripe with fleshy layers of fruit. With an excellent tannin structure and a great backbone of acidity, this wine will keep developing for some years to come yet.

The Yarra Yering Dry Red No 1 Cabernet Blend is an ideal match to a delicious beef roast and also to braised lamb shanks.
