Kevin and Diana Cullen planted their Wilyabrup vineyards in 1971 following the advice of renowned agronomist Dr John Gladstones. The university professor insisted these lands had similar potential for vine growing akin to the finest in the world. Indeed, the 2007 Kevin John Chardonnay was awarded “World’s Best Chardonnay” at the Decanter Wold Wine Awards in 2010. Today, their grapes are produced using biodynamic methods and they are proudly certified carbon neutral.
Produced from Chardonnay vines planted in 1976, this wine shows elegance and a terrific backbone of acidity. Pear, white flowers and citrus on the nose with a complex palate of Anjou pear, white nectarine and hints of almonds. Smooth and round texture and a long finish. This is a wine which drinks excellent now, but will evolve for years to come.
Pair with grilled Hapuka or other white flaky fish. It would also be delicious with a grilled cauliflower steak.
