Yarra Yering has 28 hectares of vineyard in the Yarra Valley. The vines are located under Warramate Hill and produce internationally esteemed wines. Dr. Carrodus himself selected the site based on his experience from the best wineries and vineyards in Europe. With northern exposure and well-drained soils of silt and loam, he planted the first vines in 1969.
This Shiraz was sourced from vines planted in 1972. The palate show enhanced complexity through the use of 30% new oak and partial whole bunch fermentation. Aromas of dark plum, violets, liquorice and undergrowth are all evident on the nose. Fresh red fruit flavours seamlessly merge with toasty and spicy oak. The palate is rich with deep, dark fruit flavours, spice and savoury notes. The structure is robust with chewy tannins and generous mouthfeel.
Enjoy with grilled or barbecued lamb or hard cheeses.
