With only 5 hectares of vines in the Murrumbidgee River region, Nick O’Leary focuses on making premium Riesling and Shiraz. When sourcing grapes from other vineyards, the quality of the fruit is paramount to maintain their growing reputation. Indeed, they have received the praise they deserve with the winery rated 5 stars by AWC in 2019.
Although the Nick O’Leary Riesling is 100% Riesling, the grapes are sourced from 9 different sites throughout the Canberra region. All the grapes are harvested by hand and pressed in whole bunches. This, together with sustained cool temperatures in stainless steel vats, preserves the pure fruit character of the wine. Aromas of white flowers and apple blossom marry with pale honey and cream. Granny Smith apples and lime juice dominate the palate with wet slate characters. Balanced, fresh acidity and an excellent length.
The Nick O’Leary Riesling is best paired with fresh oysters for optimum enjoyment.
