DiFabio was established by Italian immigrants back in the 1960’s. Initially they focussed on supplying premium grapes to other estates, but this changed in 1993 when they built their own winery. Today the vineyards are managed by Tony DiFabio who started working on the family estate already at the age of 10. With life-long experience passion for the land and wines, he is steering the estate into the new millennia.
The Old House Vineyard is the original plot of the estate. This vineyard is rich in sandy soils and the vines give exceptionally low yields. As a result, the fruit produced is of high quality with complex aromas and great depth of flavour. Their Cabernet Franc is made in a powerful style with lifted aromas of red berry fruit, smoke and crushed gravel. Prolonged ageing in new American and French oak casks give sweet spice and vanillin characteristics. The body is medium with well-integrated tannins, a generous palate and long finish.
