Justin Willets and Eric Railsback founded Lieu Dit in 2011 after many years of being passionate about wine. The winery is based on their love for France. In particular, the duo focus on native Loire Valley varietals. They find that the different micro climates in Santa Barbara County suit a large selection of Loire grapes. Regardless of the varietal, their focus remains on producing the best, purest, balanced and elegant wines possible.
The 2016 Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc came after three vintages severely affected by drought. 2016 had a cool and prolonged ripening season with sufficient rainfall, allowing for a slow and excellent accumulation of nutrients in the grapes. The wine is therefore very elegant with lifted aromas and great acidity. Slate like mineral notes are present on the nose with citrus, melon and white flowers. In addition, the texture is chalky with a persistent finish.
The Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc pairs perfectly with rich fish casseroles or stews, such as those from Southern France.
