Born into wine making Jo Irvine launched her own label in 2017. Nominated as one of the top 10 new wineries of 2019, she came a long way fast. Her first release, the NV Levrier Meslier Brut Rose, has been welcomed by local critics. Mostly cultivated in France in very small quantities, Meslier is an unusual grape variety. Jo’s father planted the first vines in Eden Valley in 1988, possibly making them the only plantings outside France. The vines live on in the Adelaide Hills, producing wine that is a must try for any sparkling wine lover.
Jo personally selects the fruit herself, ensuring the utmost quality. Light brioche and pastry notes are evident due to ageing on fine lees for 24 months. Fine beads and fresh acidity initially hit the palate along with juicy, green apple and tart citrus flavours. This is followed by a persistent and fresh finish combined with a supple mouthfeel and light textural elements.
Mussels, fresh lime and chilli are a delicious match with the NV Levrier Meslier Brut Rose.
