Richard and Jill McIntyre have a very hands on approach in the vineyard. Extensive care for the land and their vines mean they can kick back and relax in the cellar. Healthy fruit allows the pure varietal characters of the grapes to be expressed in the wine without any human intervention. Inspired by traditional Burgundian techniques, they only use ambient yeasts to ferment their wines naturally. The wine making couple have gained a reputation for producing powerful wine with finesse and elegance.
The Moorooduc Estate Devil Bend Creek Pinot Noir has pronounced aromas of dark berry fruits mingled with sweet violet, black cherry and fresh pomegranate. The palate follows though with hints of dried herbs and molasses. Firm, but well integrated tannins make up the structural backbone, enhancing the mouth feel and body. There is a juicy acidity and a distinct tangy orange finish.
Moorooduc Estate Devil Bend Creek Pinot Noir is excellent with duck or other rich meat dishes.
