Joe and Lou Holyman have a wealth of experience in all things wine from around the world. They took over a small neglected plot in northern Tasmania in 2004 which features vines from 1986. After long days and hard work transforming the land, they now produce some of the most exciting, premium Tasmanian wines.
The Stoney Rise wines have a different focus all together. They produce wines with pure varietal fruit expression forefront of mind that are best enjoyed young and fresh. Unlike their premium range, part of the fruit is from trusted growers rather than being all estate grown.
Made from 60% of their own grapes, mainly from vines planted in 2004 and 1986, this wine shows aromas of pomegranate along with fresh red cherry. The palate is also bright and lively, with soft red fruits and a fine underlying tannin structure. Supporting acidity and hints of spice make up the persistent finish.
Stoney Rise By Holyman Pinot Noir is an ideal match to an excellent Tasmanian cheddar or hard sheep milk cheeses such as manchego.
