Domaine Cambon is somewhat of a legend in Beaujolais. The Domaine is one of three which were part of a revolutionary wine making adventure. The winemakers had a desire to produce fine wines a notch above the Nouveau style, classic to the region. They are all strong supporters of minimal intervention winemaking and biodynamic agriculture. Domaine Cambon uses native yeasts and ages their wines in 200 year old large French oak barrels. As a result, they impart as little onto the final product as possible allowing the vineyard site to be expressed in the wine.
The Domaine Cambon Brouilly Gamay features fruit sourced from two hectares of vines that grow on soils that are rich in clay and granite. With a much more serious tannin and acid structure, this wine offers both depth and complexity of flavour. Tart black and red berry fruit with earthy notes akin to mushrooms come though on the palate. Lifted aromas of rose petal and violets are also accompanied by subdued sour cherry and sage.
The Domaine Cambon Brouilly Gamay is an ideal match to mushroom based dishes.
