Bobar is the love child of winemaking duo Tom and Sally Belford. Their philosophy is to make wines as naturally and effortlessly as possible. Based in the Steels Creek region of the Yarra Valley, they allow the land and grapes to speak for themselves. With ample experience from Europe and Australia, they made their first wine under their own label in 2010. Initially focusing on Syrah and Chardonnay, the couple have now expanded to include a range of less mainstream varietals. Regardless of the varietal, they strive to capture the pure essence of the grape, place and season in each bottle.
The Bobar Viognier is fruit forward with pronounced aromas of peach, yellow apple and quince. Characteristic floral notes of violets and roses accompany the fruit, following through with hints of mint on the palate. Being from a cooler region, the acidity is maintained; finely balancing the fruit flavours. The palate is soft and delicate with a medium body and slightly earthy finish.
The Bobar Viognier is a great match to leek and chicken dishes in a creamy sauce, and also to Comte cheese.
