The Estate is one of the more accomplished small, family run wineries in Heathcote. Initially, they started out with two small vineyards – Alan’s Cabernet Vineyard and the Original Vineyard. Today they have eight different plots in Heathcote, producing wines intended to give pleasure and enjoyment. Wild Duck Creek Estate was established in 1974 and focuses on producing bold and full bodied Victorian wines of exceptional quality.
The Wild Duck Creek Springflat Shiraz is a huge wine with more than 15% alcohol by volume. It has been aged for 22 months on a mixture of American and French oak, 40% of which is new. This wine has a seamless tannin and acid structure, with the alcohol well hidden in the body. Liquorice and dark chocolate notes follow warm berry aromas of black cherry along with mulberry. The palate is lush and complex with ripe berry and black plum flavour as well as hints of clove and cinnamon. It also has an exceptional length, with complex layers and a moreish finish.
The Wild Duck Creek Springflat Shiraz is an ideal match to a juicy Rib eye steak or T-bone.
