With heritage from Puglia in Italy, Michael Raffaele Telera’s family have been making wine since the 16th century. He started Telera in 2011 after several years of experience under his belt. The vineyards are located on Red Hill in Mornington Peninsula, running east to west in order to maximise sunlight exposure. This combined with the cooler climate allows for a longer ripening season enhancing the complexity of flavours in the grapes.
2017 was an exceptional vintage for Mornington Peninsula Sauvignon Blanc. This limited release Fume was barrel fermented using wild yeasts and left on the lees for 6 months. Rich and creamy texture with hints of pasty and smoke. Tropical fruit flavours are balanced by savoury notes and fresh citrus. The finish is persistent, but delicate with a well-balanced acidity.
