Guill and Sandra de Pury of Yeringberg make wines from low yielding wines, obtaining an astonishing texture and complexity. The wines are from some of the oldest vines in the Yarra Valley and their estate has gained a tremendous reputation both at home and abroad. After initially being abandoned, Guill and his wife Katherine replanted the old vineyards in 1969 and they have been continuously tended to ever since.
The Yeringberg Pinot Noir is a bright, energetic wine with a firm underlying tannin structure and fresh acidity. The nose shows rose petals, raspberry and a hint of musk. Black tea, charcuterie and liquorice notes provide an added complexity. The palate then follows though with raspberry, spice and hints of bitter cherry. Finally, the finish is generous and expansive.
The Yeringberg Pinot Noir is an ideal match to hearty meat dishes or wild mushroom casseroles.
