Rockford is a well known name in premium South Australian wine making. Their cellars and winery date back to the earliest settlers of the region. Thanks to the well draining, deep sandy loams of Krondorf, vines thrive in this region. Many of the originally planted areas are still in use today, producing some of the highest quality wine Australia has to offer. As a result, tradition features strongly in Rockford’s philosophy. This is even more evident by continued use of the old fashioned basket press.
Moppa Springs is one of the driest areas in the Barossa and has been under vine for decades. Their Rockford Moppa Springs Grenache Mataro Shiraz displays complex notes of black and red fruits and savoury spice. Even though this wine can be enjoyed now, it would benefit from being cellared for another couple of years.
