Pierre and Chantal Frick follow biodynamic practices in their vineyards. By encouraging the ecology of the vineyards, the vines thrive and this shows in the high quality of the grapes. Frick prefers to age his wines in 3000 litre casks and uses only wild yeast for fermentation. As a result, the wines achieve better density, balance and minerality.
A Cremant d’Alsace is a sparkling wine produced following traditional methods, similar to Champagne.
The 2015 Pierre Frick Cremant Pinot Blanc is made from grapes grown in his vineyards in Pfaffenheim. Similarly to Champagne, this wine spends 12 months on lees in the bottle. The wine has a pronounced nose of dried fruits, aromatic herbs and honey along with hints of toast and pastry. In addition, the palate is fresh and elegant with persistent mousse and notes of apple, pear and white peach.
The Pierre Frick Cremant Pinot Blanc is a perfect aperitif and it is a delicious match to fried calamari drizzled with lemon.
