Les Champs Fourne is made from the younger of the Domaine’s vines, averaging 10 years. They are planted on southward slopes riddled with chalk and clay and above this an alluvial stoney plateau is found. Because of this unique location, much of the sun’s heat is retained throughout the cooler nights. Coupled with this, adhering to low yields ensures a high concentration of flavour and aroma.
Even though made from younger vines, this wine is savoury and almost salty in expression. There is plenty of red and black berry fruit notes, accompanied by sun-dried olives and smoked meat.
An excellent entry-level Crozes-Hermitage to be enjoyed any day of the week.
