Clos de Cuminaille is one of the best sites in Saint-Jospeh, Northern Rhone. Being located on steep eastward-facing slopes with granite soils, the wines produced are rich in minerality and show great complexity of flavour. Pierre Gaillard worked for several famous Rhone producers before starting his own label in 1985. As an example, together with Guigal he helped create the infamous la Turque in the 1980’s.
The Pierre Gaillard Shiraz has an enticing spiciness on the nose, paired with meaty liquorice and deep blackcurrant fruit. The wine is precise and elegant with excellent texture and bright acidity. A very sophisticated and lighter-bodied Shiraz, marrying spicy, bright fruits with a meaty complexity.
The Pierre Gaillard Shiraz is a great match to braised dishes or poultry game such as pigeon or quail.
