Gerard Boulay has a stellar reputation for his outstanding Sauvignon Blancs and his family history of winemaking go back to the middle ages. His wines are comparable to that of a fine Burgundy Chardonnay, showing world-class precision and complexity. Gerard’s philosophy is that heathy land produces healthy grapes which in turn makes excellent wines. The average age of his “Comtesse” vines are 70 years and the vineyards are ploughed as opposed to treaded with pesticides and herbicides.
The wine exhibits juicy fruits and intense minerality thanks to the Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Quince, white peach and apricot dominate the palate with an outstanding length and hints of smoke on the nose. Lively acidity, great depth and lively acidity.
Pair with most seafood, although a carb and rich crustacean-based dishes would be the best match.
