La Manufacture is a rather novel project, founded by Benjamin Laroche. Unlike many other winemakers in Chablis, he does not grow his own fruit for La Manufacture. Rather, he sources his fruit from the most passionate grape growers who share his philosophy in the vineyard. Through long term cooperation with his growers, Laroche aims to create unique wines from vineyard plots that otherwise would not get much attention.
2013 was not your average vintage in Chablis, with many of the wines lacking the steely acidity characteristic of the wines. Regardless, Laroche managed to produce a wine that is not only true to the terroir, but also with refreshing acidity. The La Manufacture Vaudesir Grand Cru Chablis is a lot richer than expected (even for a Grand Cru) with nutty and honeyed undertones, typical of wines showing botrytis. There is a solid fruit core with nuanced layers of minerality and the palate is never ending. This is an outstanding Grand Cru Chablis which any Chablis lover should try.
La Manufacture Vaudesir Grand Cru Chablis is a must with grilled lobster or enjoy it with grilled sweetbreads.
