Kreglinger is a Tasmanian premium sparkling wine producer. With fruit sourced from the volcanic soils of the Pipers Brook region, their wines show a characteristic minerality unlike no other. The cool climate allows for a long and slow ripening season, further cooled by the marine winds. As a result, further accumulation of flavour compounds occur in the grapes resultng in wines of enhanced depth and complexity.
A gorgeous blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the 2006 Kreglinger is a happy marriage of both. The wine spent 13 years on fine lees, but still retains its’ supple freshness. That being said, the palate is rich and creamy without cloying pastry notes. The bouquet is abundant with soft red fruit, roses and sweet spice. Conversely, salty white peach, light brioche and chalky mineral notes are evident on the palate. This wine is complex, elegant and refreshing all at once. Drinks beautifully now, but will cellar further.
The 2006 Kreglinger is a perfect match to Tasmanian oysters.
