1995 Chateau Rauzan Segla

This Chateau went through a full overhaul in 1994 when it was bought by the famous fashion house Chanel. New vines were planted, including Petit Verdot, and the plantings of Merlot were increased to improve the Chateau’s blends. Furthermore, all the individual parcels of fruit could now be matured separately, allowing for the best possible blend for each wine. This saw the wines improve markedly, receiving consistently stellar reviews from industry professionals.

Segla is the second, and more approachable wine of Chateau Rauzan. The nose is intense with ripe and juicy cassis. Aromas of coffee, smoke and cigar all hint to its’ maturity. The palate is broad with rounded raisin-like fruit, vanilla and spicy tannin. Despite the ripeness, it has a medium body with complex layers of elegance. A firm and tannic finish, balanced by subtle hints of sweetness. 

1995 Chateau Rauzan Segla is a great match to Rib Eye on the bone.
